Retention Amount – Detailed Explanation
HPCL follows a structured Retention Amount Policy during the probation period.
For the first 12 months (probation period), a fixed amount will be deducted every month from the total emoluments of the selected candidates. This amount is retained by the company as a commitment mechanism.
Monthly Retention Deduction Structure:
For Officers recruited in Pay Scales:
Rs. 30,000 – 1,20,000
Rs. 40,000 – 1,40,000
👉 Retention Deduction: Rs. 5,000 per month
👉 Duration: First 12 months
👉 Total Retention Amount: Rs. 60,000
For Officers recruited in Pay Scales:
Rs. 50,000 – 1,60,000
Rs. 60,000 – 1,80,000

👉 Retention Deduction: Rs. 8,000 per month

Important Clarification:
The retention amount is deducted only during the first 12 months of probation.
This amount is linked to the mandatory service commitment.
If the officer leaves before completing the prescribed service period, the retention amount may be forfeited as per company rules.
If the officer successfully completes the required service obligation, the amount is handled as per HPCL policy terms.

Service Bond
Selected candidates must serve HPCL for a minimum period of 3 years from the date of joining.
